Our first art unit is looking at the work of Pablo Picasso. We started by exploring cubism and the way different images are represented. We discussed a number of Picasso’s works and the mood they convey. He works with different shapes, colours and line work to develop a wide range of art work.
First, we looked more closely at Picasso and his life to see how this may have influenced his art work. We discussed how he was heavily influenced by the war and how this may have effected the moods of his art work. We looked at how cubism shifts and manipulates shapes as we know them to create unique perspectives. We had a go at drawing our partners but doing this in different perspectives to create a similar cubism design. We sketched one side of our partners face from face on, and the other side from a profile view. This led use all to having very unique pieces of art.
We can’t wait to explore his art work further and introduce of knowledge of colour to create our own final pieces inspired by Picasso.
