This term in Science we are learning about states of matter – this means identifying whether something is a solid, liquid or gas. We now know the structure of the particles in these states and how they change as they are heated. Today we investigated the effect of different temperatures on the melting rate of ice. We measured 3 different temperatures of water, dropped the ice in and used a stopwatch to time how long each ice cube took to melt. This required some very close observation but we thoroughly enjoyed seeing how fast the hot water melted it!
