In French we have been building on our phonics knowledge. We have looked at the pronunciation of the vowels in French and how this differs to the English pronunciation. We are learning about different silent endings of words where there are consonants. In year 4, we continue to build on our vocabulary and develop a word bank to support us in describing ourselves and others.
Today, we focused on words ending in a silent ‘d’ sound. We practiced saying these words with our partners, practiced writing them and we even highlighted the different sounds in the words, including that silent (shh!) letters. It was tricky at first when we discovered that some words are masculine and some feminine and that this affects whether those final sounds are pronounced!
