We have begun our first year 4 unit of Ready, Steady, Write; The Whale. This wordless picture book is filled with beautiful illustrations that have inspired us to use some equally beautiful descriptive vocabulary. This week, we analysed an ‘example text’ that matches the book and found examples of: expanded noun phrases, speech, alternative nouns to avoid repetition, fronted adverbials and correct use of verb forms (e.g. was/were, seen/saw). We can’t wait to get stuck in to write our own stories!
