In Maths, we have been learning about grouping objects equally. We were given a number of objects and we explored the number of ways in which we can group them. We were then given 11 cubes and asked to put them in 2 groups, we soon realised that they can’t be put into 2 equal groups, so we made 2 groups of 5 and had one remaining. We learned that to record this, we would write ‘2 x 5 + 1’. We spent the rest of the lesson making equal groups, with remainders, and recording the calculation.
