We welcome volunteers at Dunston Hill Community Primary School to assist and participate in teaching and learning activities under the guidance of the school staff. We acknowledge that each individual brings to the school a different perspective and a differing amount of experience in working with children. We are pleased to share our expertise and to learn from others.
There are different aspects of the school day that you may wish to volunteer for including:
- Hearing children read
- Accompanying school visits / local walks
- Supervising / walking children to the swimming baths
- Classroom support
- Support Walking Bus
In order to safeguard the children, volunteers will be asked to provide two-character references prior to starting work, one of which should be from a professional person (e.g. your current employer, a teacher or GP). DBS clearance will also be obtained before volunteers start. They will be given guidance by school staff on their behaviour on site and our safeguarding/child protection procedures.
Volunteers should sign in on their arrival and as they depart.
Parents who volunteer will be asked to work with classes other than their own child’s.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at the school please look at our volunteering policy here and complete the volunteer information form here.
