Year 5 explored the idea of scaling sizes by using their multiplication facts. Children used different lengths of material to see how many of each length could fit into the longer length. They used the stem sentences “________ is twice/ three times/ four times the length of ______.” to explore scaling up. Year 5 looked at scaling from a longer length to a shorted length by using their multiplying by a fraction knowledge.
