Our children had great fun celebrating Earth Day 2025. A whole – school assembly was hosted by our Climate Crew, who explained to the children that Earth Day 2025 was about recognising that we have power over how we treat our planet. The children celebrated all the activities that we do so far, such as recycling in classrooms, walking to school, switching off lights and taps when not in use. We were also very lucky to be joined by Lucy Greenwood, Climate Change Team Leader at Gateshead Council, who shared some brilliant information about what is happening locally to tackle Climate Change. Lucy also invited all of the children to undertake a personal pledge to do something different to help the environment, for example, buy pre-loved toys or clothes. After assembly, children from across the school worked with some Art students from Newcastle College and Alex from Northern Gas Net Zero Department, to create a beautiful collage using recycled materials. The collage is proudly displayed in our school hall and is entitled ‘Our School, Our Planet’.
